APM Terminals Medport Tangier will be a highly-automated facility with up to 2,000 meters of quay. Our Tangier team is currently bringing people, expertise and technology together to usher in a new era in African ports for today’s business world through world-class operations in the safest, most environmentally friendly manner.Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing safe operational execution processes geared towards driving effectiveness in an automated environment incorporating current best practices in APMT
  • Build a sound understanding of the automation approach for TM2 including the modus operandi of the various automated equipment and provide input for improvement where/as applicable
  • Drive operations integration testing for an execution perspective to minimize disruptions during live operations and support the achievement of the expected productivity
  • Lead the definition of the training curriculum for equipment operators ( Shuttle carriers, ARMG, DSTS) and closely monitor its execution with the training department
  • Lead the specification of the automated gate processes including the implementation of an appointment system. Align those processes with local authorities (customs, port authorities etc.) requirements
  • Provide effective organisation and control of all terminal operations during designated shift period in order to meet planned objectives.
  • Coordinate terminal planning and operations to ensure effective ship working programmes are set and maintained to ensure vessels meet sailing or berthing deadlines

Who we are looking for

  • Requires a bachelor or master degree in logistics, Port operations management or related fields
  • Requires a background of at least 10 years of experience in container terminal operations environment including experience at a middle management level in an operations department
  • Ability to work under pressure, anticipates potential problems and diagnoses, evaluate and resolve logistical problems as they happen in order to meet operational performance objectives and deadlines
  • Requires very good knowledge and experience of vessel, yard, gate planning and execution
  • Requires strong leadership skills coupled with the ability to build a high performing team with the right combination of personalities
  • Requires advanced level of verbal and written communications skills in English.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple mission-critical projects simultaneously and ability to meet deadlines
  • Lean Six sigma green belt certification will be an advantage
  • A forward thinking and creative individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization
  • The ability to obtain cooperation and influence people while promoting a team environment.

  • Support in business planning and performance management including KPIs
  • Proactively and constantly drive cost control and cost reduction initiatives
  • Reports financial status by developing forecasts; reporting results; analyzing variances and developing improvements
  • Encourage and assist department managers in preparation of detailed and realistic departmental estiamtes/targets.
  • Follow up with department managers on actual developments against target and provide detailed explanation of deviations to Management.
  • Develop financial policies, standard operation procedures and guidelines within area of responsibility, specifically including financial and management reporting.
  • Provide high quality financial information and analysis for decision-making. Conduct financial analysis and provide financial expertise on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in preparation of the required Board and Shareholders meetings material
  • Support CFO to secure project financing and cash planning.
  • Ensure reliable and timely reporting as per Concession and Shareholders Agreement requirements.
  • Preparing business case studies, scenario analysis and long term forecasts in relation to the project Business Plan.
  • Develop financial and accounting policies, standard operation procedures and guidelines within area of responsibility including accounting and other major areas.
  • Ensure full control over the accounting section functions processes and SOPs i.e. AP, AR, Cash and GL.
  • Ensure adherence to Authority matrix and overall Governance frame work.

Who we are looking forExperience

  • Requires at least seven years of progressively more responsible general accounting and finance experience. Requires at least four years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Must have thorough understanding and working knowledge of ERP systems and accounting specific software. Requires proficiency in various software applications and programs, specifically excel, powerpoint and think-cell.

Skills

  • Team player.
  • Requires good verbal and written communications skills, in addition to effective interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in English is a must, and French is preferred.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Requires a high level of planning and organizational skills.

Education

  • Requires a university degree in business or accounting. Qualification as a Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant, or equivalent is preferable. Project Implementation is a key value driver in APM Terminals. Our ability to build a terminal, establish an operational organization and secure commercial business delivers real NPV to APMT.

The objective of this role :

  • Full understanding of Project scope, investment breakdown and time line
  • Control over capital expenditures, estimates and follow-up on same together with Asset delivery team and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure that policies and guidelines are developed in accordance with overall strategies and policies set out and envisioned by the CFO

Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities :

  • Gather data required for reporting on investment progress vs budget, review and reconcile such to ensure its validity and accuracy, and provide the CFO and other stakeholders with required reporting in a timely manner including variance analysis.
  • Ensure proper documentation of any changes to scope or budget.
  • Ensure proper approvals are in place before any investment decisions including change management processes
  • Maintain up-to date monthly capital expenditure report including year to date, rest of year and project Estimate to complete.
  • Work very close with Asset delivery team on Finance related tasks i.e. reporting, forecasts, payment execution…etc.
  • Review, follow-up and control over bank guarantees and insurance policies related to project contracts.
  • Review the capitalization of fixed assets together with the accounting team.
  • Review supplier invoices related to project and ensure proper aprrovals are in place from the Asset delivery team.
  • Prepare accrual sheet for accounting.
  • Full understanding of project contracts and ensure adherence to contract deliverebales, milestones, scope and control over financial impact accordingly.
  • Monthly payment schedule/investment cash flow (with comment on overrun (if any) compared to initial investment plan.
  • Maintain an updated version of the Standard Financial Model.
